Hello everyone,
I hope this post finds you well. Today, I want to talk about some changes happening at Twitter that will have an impact on third-party apps and, more specifically, on my ability to livestream through these apps.
Starting tomorrow, Twitter will no longer provide free access to its API for third-party applications. This means that in order to continue accessing Twitter's API, third-party apps will have to pay for it. This change will certainly have an impact on the services that these apps can provide, including livestreaming.
As someone who has used third-party apps for livestreaming, I understand that this change may be frustrating. However, there are still other options available for us to consider. Many popular streaming platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch, offer their own API and support for livestreaming. These platforms may provide us with a great alternative for our livestreaming needs.
While this change is not ideal, I believe it's important to stay positive. Twitter still offers a wealth of news, information, and real-time updates, and we can find other options for livestreaming that meet our needs.
In conclusion, I wanted to share this update with you and let you know that, although there may be some changes, we still have options for livestreaming and we did survive when Periscope disappeared.
XOX Chantal
So sorry to hear this is affecting you in such a way. It’s such a shame that Twitter is evolving (if that’s the right word!) the way that it is.Twitter is changing in so many unattractive ways. I’ve lost a brilliant network of writing friends on there through the feed changes. Also anytime I menton ‘Substack’ the reach of my posts goes to double figures (if I’m lucky!). Such a shame as this is my predominant way of sharing posts from my newsletter.
Today it's the 14th of February and Twitter Dev is still delaying the new API changes so Livestream ahead, there is no clear date at this stage when they will put the API changes through.
